If you are on Medicare and you have diabetes, it may be possible for you to receive financial assistance with obtaining the diabetic testing supplies you require. Even if you do not need to take insulin, there are many regular expenses associated with properly caring for diabetes. Therefore, you want to be certain to receive as much assistance with paying for these supplies as possible.

So how do you know if your qualify for Medicare Diabetic Testing Supplies? In order to receive assistance with paying for your diabetic supplies there are a few criteria that must be met.

Basic Requirements for Qualifying for Diabetic Supplies

In order to obtain diabetic supplies through Medicare, you must first obtain a doctor’s order. A doctor’s order is similar to a prescription in that it must be completed by your physician and must be written on a special form.

In order to be valid, a doctor’s order must include information regarding the diabetes supplies you need as well as your doctor’s signature and the date the order was completed. It may also contain other relevant information, such as how frequently you are supposed to test your blood glucose level each day.

If you are purchasing your diabetic supplies through a Medicare-enrolled supplier, you will need to submit the doctor’s order to the supplier and this information will be kept on file. The supplier will then submit your claim to Medicare on your behalf. It is important to note that you cannot submit the claim yourself and you should not pay for any supplies that you or your designated caregiver did not authorize.

Get Qualified for Diabetic Testing Supplies Today! Click Here

Obtaining Additional Diabetic Supplies

When it comes to receiving reimbursement for diabetic testing supplies from Medicare, it is important to note that there are certain limitations placed on the number test strips and lancets you can receive.

If your doctor feels you need more testing supplies than what is covered, he can indicate a need for additional testing supplies when completing the doctor’s orders. This does not necessarily guarantee, however, that you will receive the additional supplies.

In order to qualify for additional testing supplies, you must meet a couple of criteria.

First, you must have seen your physician sometime during the past six months, during which time the physician must have conducted an evaluation of your diabetes control. Second, the physician must document specific reasons for requiring the additional testing equipment and this documentation must be included in your medical records. You may also need to maintain a testing log book in which you document your test results.

In this case, you will need to provide your supplier with a copy of one month’s worth of test results every six months.

Do you suffer from diabetes? If so, you likely have a number of questions regarding Medicare and how the program can help you pay for your diabetic supplies. After all, paying for insulin and diabetic testing supplies can become quite costly, so you need as much help as you can get.

Fortunately, Medicare does provide a great deal of assistance to those who are suffering from diabetes - and here’s a look at some of the things you need to know about this program.

Keeping Your Expenses to a Minimum

For most diabetes patients, Medicare will cover about 80% of the costs associated with the purchase of diabetes testing supplies. You will, however, need to meet your deductible before you qualify for this assistance. Currently, the deductible established by Medicare is $135. If you have a supplemental insurance plan in place, it may cover the cost of your deductible as well as the remaining 20% that Medicare does not cover.

There are several different types of diabetic supplies that are covered by Medicare. These include:

Blood glucose test strips

Blood glucose monitors

Lancets and lancet devices

Glucose control solutions used to check the accuracy of monitors and test strips

Insulin pump supplies

When you order your supplies from a diabetic supplies company that accepts Medicare payments, you will not have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses aside from the deductible and co-payment. This includes delivery costs, as you should not be charged delivery expenses when you order your supplies in this way.

Make the Process Simple

In addition to helping to significantly reduce the cost associated with purchasing your diabetic supplies, there are other benefits associated with purchasing Medicare paid diabetic supplies. The greatest benefit is the convenience that it offers. Not only will your supplies be delivered directly to your home, the diabetic supply company also bills Medicare for you so you don’t have to worry about getting the paperwork in proper order and you don’t have to pay for your supplies and then wait for reimbursement.

When you work with a diabetic supply company, it will also provide you with reminders when it is time to order more supplies. This way, you will be certain to have all of the supplies you need to live a happy and healthy lifestyle.

If you suffer from diabetes, there is no reason for you to pay more than necessary for your medication and testing supplies. With the help of Medicare and a reputable diabetic supply company, you will save money while being certain to have the supplies you need.

Are you looking for a great mobility scooter to help you get around more easily? If so, you may be surprised to learn that there are literally dozens of different brands and designs for you to select from.

So, which mobility scooter is the right one for you?

Choosing the right mobility scooter requires knowing more about the different types of scooters available as well as the top mobility scooter brands on the market.

Transportable Mobility Scooters

Transportable mobility scooters, which are also referred to as travel mobility scooters, are designed specifically for ease of use. These scooters are lightweight and are easily disassembled so they can be taken apart and transported in the trunk of your car. These scooters also feature sealed batteries so they can be transported by plane. Since these scooters are compact, they are generally best used by those who are 5′10″ or shorter and those who are 300 pounds or less.

Three-Wheeled Mobility Scooters

Three-wheeled mobility scooters are a little larger than transportable mobility scooters, but they still provide a high level of maneuverability. As such, they are good for both indoor and outdoor use. Since they are a bit larger than transportable mobility scooters, they can hold up to 350 pounds. In addition, they generally feature extra characteristics such as power-elevating seats.

Four-Wheeled Mobility Scooters

Four-wheeled mobility scooters are a great option if you plan to spend a great deal of time outdoors. Although these models are larger, they do feature a higher ground clearance as well as larger tires, which makes these scooters ideal for use on rugged terrain. These scooters do tend to have a larger turning radius, however, which means they are not a good choice for indoor use.

Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters

Heavy-duty mobility scooters are the best choice for those who weigh over 350 pounds. These scooters are available in both three- and four-wheeled varieties, which means you will a number of different models to select from if you need a scooter capable of bearing a larger amount of weight. Fortunately, you will find that there are many different brands of mobility scooters available. These include:

Celebrity X Mobility Scooters

GO-GO Mobility Scooters

Pride Mobility Scooters

Rally Mobility Scooters

Rascal Mobility Scooters

UltraLite Mobility Scooters

Regardless of the design you select, you are certain to enjoy high-quality if you choose to purchase one of these brands of mobility scooters.

Have you been considering obtaining a mobility scooter? While mobility scooters can help you enjoy a more independent lifestyle that you may have thought you had lost, paying for one of these wonderful devices can be quite costly. Fortunately, with the help of Medicare, it may be possible for you to own a scooter and live independently once more.

Keeping Down the Cost Your Mobility Scooter with the Help of Medicare

While mobility scooters are certainly quite costly, you can keep the costs down with the help of Medicare.

In fact, if you qualify for a Medicare paid mobility scooter, you will only have to pay your annual deductible and 20% of the cost of the scooter. This is true whether you rent or purchase the scooter.

If you choose to rent a mobility scooter, Medicare will pay 10 monthly payments toward the rental agreement. After 9 months have passed, your scooter supplier will send you a Purchase Option letter providing you with the option to purchase the scooter. If you choose to purchase the scooter, Medicare will make three more payments on your behalf and will pay 80% of the costs associated with maintaining the scooter in the future. You are, however, responsible for scheduling maintenance appointments.

If you choose to continue renting or if you do not respond to the Purchase Option letter within 30 days, Medicare will make a total of 15 payments toward rental of the scooter and you can continue to use the scooter for as long as you need to. Since the supplier will still own the scooter, the supplier will still be responsible for maintaining the scooter. You will, however, be charged a service fee every six months and Medicare will cover 80% of the costs.

Locating Medicare Paid Mobility Scooters

When it comes to obtaining a Medicare paid mobility scooter, you will find two types of suppliers available: those who are enrolled to be Medicare suppliers and those who are enrolled but have decided not to participate. It is important to note that those who do not want to participate can charge more than the amount Medicare has approved. Although they still cannot charge more than 15% above the amount that Medicare has approved, you will have to bear this extra expense. In addition, you may have to pay for the scooter ahead of time and wait for reimbursement from Medicare. This process can take a couple months to complete. Therefore, if you want to go the easiest route that will not require you to pay money upfront, selecting a Medicare-participating provider is the best way to go.

If you suffer from mobility issues, you know how difficult it can be to live life to its fullest. With the help of a mobility scooter, however, you can still enjoy all that life has to offer - from visiting with friends to going on vacation to simply taking care of simple tasks around the home, getting a mobility scooter can give you a whole new lease on life. Unfortunately, these scooters can be quite costly and finding one that fits within your budget can be quite difficult. But, with the help of Medicare, it may be possible for you to obtain the mobility scooter you need. That leads into — how do I qualify for a mobility scooter?

Meeting Medicare’s Mobility Scooter Qualification Requirements

In order to qualify for a mobility scooter through Medicare, you must meet certain qualification requirements. These requirements include:

You are unable to walk on your own or with the help of any other type of mobility equipment

You have upper body weakness that prevents you from being able to use a manual wheelchair

You would have to spend more of your time in a chair or in bed if you didn’t have a mobility scooter

You are able to get in and out of a scooter safely and you are capable of working the controls on your own

In short, you must demonstrate that you need to use a scooter in order to move independently. Otherwise, Medicare will not cover the cost of the device.

Completing the Necessary Steps to Receive a Mobility Scooter Through Medicare

If you meet the requirements to obtain a mobility scooter through Medicare, there are a few steps you will need to take in order to make certain your scooter is paid for. These steps include:

Meet with your doctor to discuss your mobility concerns

Ask your doctor to document your need for a mobility scooter within your medical records

Obtain a doctor’s order for a mobility scooter - make sure the order is signed and dated

Send the doctor’s order to an approved Medicare supplier of mobility scooters

It is important to keep in mind that you must have a doctor’s order to receive a mobility scooter that is paid for through Medicaid, so don’t fall for sales tactics from scam artists or others who try to take advantage of those with mobility concerns. Rather, make your first step a visit to your doctor and get all of the paperwork in proper order so you can reap the benefits of having a mobility scooter without having to pay the expense.
